monthly bucket list

My Monthly Bucket List – May 2016

I really can’t believe it’s May already. Was it not only Christmas a few weeks ago?! What happened? Jokes aside, it does feel like this year is moving so fast. I think that’s what happens when you have children though, isn’t it? Life seems to speed up. I thought I would join in with the monthly bucket list this month, because I’ve got some things I want to get done, and I know I won’t do them unless I set them in stone, so here goes.

My May Bucket List

  • Take the kids to a cafe –  Ok I’m sure this sounds a little silly, but it occurred to me that I’ve never taken my children to a cafe. Why do I want to? Well, I don’t really know. I quite like the idea of taking them to get a hot chocolate and a wee cake for a treat, and I could enjoy some decent coffee. I did attempt this at the end of the Easter holidays last month, on a whim I said ‘come on kids, lets go and get a treat’, but of course we walked down to our village cafe and it was closed. I’d like to try again this month, preferably at a time when the cafe is open…
  • Get my first bit of freelance work –  Since registering as self employed in January, I’ve adopted the title of ‘Blogger and Freelance Writer’, but it’s not really true because I haven’t done a single freelance writing piece yet. Not for lack of trying, I must add. I’ve applied for lots of things on People Per Hour and haven’t heard a thing back, not a sausage. Either I’m pitching wrong, or I’m just not a good enough writer, I really don’t know. I’m going to keep trying though, both at writing and social media management, and I hope may will be the month I take on my first bit of work as a freelancer. If anyone has any tips for a newbie, please do share!
  • Exercise daily –  Ok, so it’s already the 4th of May and I haven’t done any so far, but from this day onwards I want to make an effort to try and get some physical activity in to every day. Even if it’s just ten minutes in the morning, or a quick yoga routine in the evening, I just need to do something.
  • Decorate the living room – We bought two tins of white paint in March ready to paint the living room, and they’re still sitting in the shed. We’ve been planning to redecorate since Christmas, and bought some cushions and wall art in January. That shows you how long this has been on going. Really I just need a rug and a few wee bits for my side board and stuff and I’ll have everything I need. I’d like to go ahead and redecorate anyway, and I’ll just add whatever is missing later, because I’m sick of having brown walls (whoever thought that was a good idea?!).

I think my goals for this month are all relatively manageable, don’t you? Check back next month to see if I ticked them all off!

Good luck with it all. I would love to make a living from freelance writing and blogging but doubt that I ever will.
