Autism, Family Life

Word of the Week – Proud

It’s been four weeks since Neil moved in to the autism unit at his school. The decision to move him from the mainstream school in to the unit happened at the end of last term. Neil had the whole summer to prepare for the change. I’m not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing to be honest. The poor wee man spent nine weeks worrying about the change, which wasn’t nice for any of us. We tried to make the transition as easy as possible for him. He’d spent time in his new class, met the […]

Rain Rain, Go Away!

Rain rain go away, come again another day. Preferably, a day when we haven’t planned a barbecue please. It has rained a lot though, hasn’t it? Like, a lot a lot. Almost every day in the last week for us, and the days ahead aren’t looking much better. In fact, if I look at BBC Weather for the next week, it’s all grey, clouds and rain. Word of the Week – Anticipation

It’s been one of those weird weeks for the children. Well, for all of us I guess. The summer holidays are approaching, and everything is a little bit off. School work has slowed, homework has stopped, and everything is starting to wind down ready for the highly anticipated nine weeks of holidays. It’s a period of limbo, they’re not quite broken up, but they’re not doing normal school activities either. For the kids, excitement is building. In just 8 school days they will be saying goodbye to their classmates, ready for a summer of fun and frolics. School’s out! For […]

Blogging, Family Life

Word of the Week – Busy

This week has been quite a busy one. This last fortnight, in fact. Busy, busy, busy. This week saw me posting two blog posts which were part of projects I’ve been working on for a long time. My Euro 2016 post in which I’m working with McDonald’s, and my Cleaning With Kids post which I’ve been working on with Argos. I was even featured on the Argos website this week as part of the family cleaning project, which is amazing. There have been a few late nights this week, staying up to the wee small hours to make sure I […]

Cats

Word of the Week – Outside

Our cats, Poffy & Candy, have been with us for a little over 18 months. In that time, they have never really been outside. We decided from the word go that they would be kept exclusively indoors. It’s worked well for us, and until now they have never really shown much interest in the outside world, other than bird watching from the window. When we open the front or back door they tend to sit a few meters away to watch what is going on, but no real attempts to go outside have been made. One evening this week I […]
