Classic Children’s Books

The first week in March is a special week for children’s literacy,¬†with both World Book Day and Dr Seuss Day taking place. Children up and down the country celebrate some of the worlds best loved children’s authors with dress up and fun reading related activities. As a self confessed book lover, I love celebrating literature and reading. As a child, I loved nothing more than getting lost in a good book, and I’m thankful that my children have developed a love of reading too. Reading is something that can be enjoyed together as a family. I just love curling up […]

Reading is not just about reading words on a page though, it’s about understanding what the words are trying to tell you. When it comes to […]

Getting Back Into Reading

I’ve loved books and reading for as long as I can remember. As a child, I much preferred an evening in my room with a good book over a night in front of the telly! My love of reading continued through my teens and in to my early 20’s. I enjoyed visiting the library once a week to find new things to read. I am not what I would call a casual reader, and what I mean by that is I don’t like to casually dip in and out of a book. I know people like to carry books in […]

Our Favourite Children's Books

Unless you have been living under a rock, you will know that it is World Book Day this Thursday. Across the country parents are trying desperately to make/ buy appropriate costumes (Elsa definitely counts, right? I mean, there were books written about the movie surely?!) and bizarrely turn muddy spuds in to favourite book characters. I honestly have no idea what that is all about, but it’s quite a fun activity all the same. We somehow managed to turn a tattie in to The Cat in the Hat last year, which you can see here. I love world book day. […]
