Who am I? #Blogtober16

I’ve been rubbish at blogging recently. Rubbish at writing in general, really. At the beginning of the year I wrote about how I wanted to engage in my passion daily, but it hasn’t happened. I’ve let my writing slip, and I’m disappointed. I recently saw that Mandi over at HexMumBlog was running a Blogtober challenge, which involves blogging every day for the month of October. I thought the challenge could be just what I need to give me that wee push. I’m hoping a month of blogging will get me back on track again. For each day of Blogtober there […]

A Lie In

Sometimes all you need is a lie in. To refresh your mind and your body. It’s what many parents dream about. Summer holidays bring with it the fantasy of ‘turning off the alarm’. No more school runs, meaning no more early starts, right? I wish I could say that’s how it works, but we all know it’s not true. The elusive lie in never comes. It remains but a myth. My First Birth Story

Ah, my first labour. It was almost seven and a half years ago now, and yet I can still remember it like it was yesterday. Every little detail, which is funny because I’ve got a memory like a sieve. I can hardly remember what I had for lunch yesterday, yet I can recount the tale of my two labours almost minute by minute. I hold on to those memories. I want to keep them forever, because those two days, along with my wedding day, are the most significant in my life. I wasn’t a blogger when I had my babies, […]

Good Riddance, May.

So another month is almost over. I have to admit, May hasn’t been my best month, and in a way I’m glad to see the back of it. No, this really hasn’t been my month. In fact, I should say our month, because things haven’t been going too smoothly for my husband either. Usually, I’m not one to wish the days and months away, but I’m making an exception. June can’t come quick enough. I really haven’t been feeling myself over the last few weeks. I’ve had a strange feeling hanging over me, something I couldn’t quite put my finger […]

Neil Today You Are Seven

Neil, today you are seven. As part of our new tradition, I am writing you a birthday letter, just as I did last year and hope to continue doing for many years to come. I write this as you lie in bed, I can hear you making your noises as you try to relax, just as you do every evening. You’ve had a nice day, nothing too exciting. I guess the ‘big day’ doesn’t mean as much to you as such days do to your sister. You weren’t really in the mood for a big celebration, it’s just not your […]
