Word of the Week – Confidence

This week brought about a bit of a mini milestone for Caitlin. It’s a funny one too, as it’s maybe not something that others will see as a milestone, but for us it really is. I’ve written before about Caitlin’s struggle with her self confidence. As a parent, it’s hearth breaking. I’ve watched her stand awkwardly on the edge of a group of children, too nervous to speak. I’ve watched her as she watches children playing in the street, too scared to ask if she can join in. She would love to make new friends, but it’s a real struggle […]

Lifting the Cabin Fever – The Ordinary Moments

This week has been half term, and it’s been a funny one. I usually love half term, and I’m sure the kids do too. It’s a well needed break from the school routine, a chance to recuperate and spend some time together as a family. But like I said, this week has been a funny week. I had pre half term fantasies of lots of nice walks in the cool February sun, hot chocolates in front of the fire, cuddles under the blanket watching some Harry Potter and other nice things. My Dream Horse with Petplan Equine

As a child I loved horses and ponies. I spent many an evening playing with my favourite pony toys after school, dreaming that one day I could own a real horse of my own. Each year when asked what I wanted for my birthday, I would always reply “a horse”. To silence my requests, my auntie told me if I was good she’d buy me a horse for my 12th birthday. I never forgot about that. I was thoroughly disappointed when my 12th birthday rolled around and I didn’t receive that special gift. Now I’m the proud mum of a […]

Caitlin, Today You Are Seven

Caitlin, my sweet little girl, today you are seven. And just like last year, and all of the other birthdays you’ve had, I’m wondering how time could have moved so fast. I say this every birthday, but how can it be that seven years have passed since I first laid my eyes on you? Today for you’r birthday we kept things low key. I’m too anxious to be holding big parties at the moment, although you don’t quite understand that yet. Just because we kept things low key, it doesn’t mean we haven’t had fun. You took a cake in to […]

My Monthly Bucket List January 2017

It’s been a while since I’ve done a monthly bucket list. Usually I have every intention, but I’m terribly unorganised and end up forgetting about it until it’s too late. Of course this month I’m on the ball, because it’s January and I’m a new, more organised person. HA only joking, I’m sure I’ll be late again in February. Anyway I don’t have last month to update you on, so I’ll just jump straight in to my goals for this month. January Bucket List Read a bed time story to the kids every night – I used to read the […]
