I’ve always enjoyed experimenting with makeup. As a teenager I loved bright colours, and was much more adventurous than I am now. As I got older and became a mum, my make up choices toned down a bit. My go-to look became an eyeliner flick and pink blush. This year however, I’ve started wearing bolder colours on my lip, black and vampy reds have been my favourite. I’m having a lot of fun trying out new makeup looks again, something which I haven’t done for years.
As with fashion, different makeup trends come and go. Ellisons have released an E-book with the beauty trends for the year ahead, and I’m surprised to see some of my teenage favourites coming back. So, here are some of the beauty trends which are predicted to be a big thing for the spring/ summer of 2017:
2017 Beauty Trends
- Lip Gloss – Matt colours were big in 2016, but this year is the year of the gloss. As a teenager in the 2000’s, I’m no stranger to lip gloss. It was a staple in my makeup bag, both at school and for night’s out. I had a lip gloss in almost every shade of pink. Any girl who was a teen in the 2000’s will remember the nightmare of getting your hair stuck to your beautifully glossed lips!
- Smudged Eyeliner – This is one I’m happy to see, as I’ve been rocking this look for ages. Now I’m trendy! A kohl pencil is perfect for this, and it’s such an easy look. Perfect for laid back summer days when there’s just no time for hours spent in front of the mirror with the liquid eyeliner!
- In Shower Tanning Lotions – This sound like a dream to me. I’ve spent years trying to perfect my tanning technique and it’s always such a hassle. It’s so messy! Now, you can get a tanning lotion that you apply in the shower and wash off before you get out. It almost sound too good to be true!
I don’t want to give too much away, if you want to know what other beauty trends are going to be big this year you’ll have to read the Ebook. You can find it here.
What do you think about the big beauty trends for this year? Will you be channeling your inner 2000’s girl and donning some lipgloss this summer? I’d love to know in the comments below!
