The Christmas Tag

Only a few sleeps until Christmas so I thought I’d do a fun Christmas post today. The awesome Beth from Twinderelmo tagged me in The Christmas Tag which is a series of fun festive questions so I thought I’d give that a go. You can ready her answers here, but give mine a wee read before you click!

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

Muppets Christmas Carol is my absolute favourite. I used to watch it every Christmas Eve with my mam and hearing the songs from it just makes me feel all warm and festive. I also love The Nightmare Before Christmas, Home Alone, Elf and Polar Express too.

Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Yes! It snowed very heavily at the end of 2009 which was Neil’s first Christmas. There are photos and videos of me pushing him around in our front garden on his In The Night Garden Tombliboo ride on surrounded by ice and snow.

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

At home. My mam usually visits from England, and my father in law visits from two doors down. I wouldn’t  want to be anywhere else for Christmas day!

What is your favourite Christmas song?

I’m a total sucker for Mariah Carey All I want For Christmas, it’s always been my favourite!

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

I always did this when I was a child. Now we have a Christmas Eve box which has pyjamas and hot chocolate and things in, but no presents are opened. There are no presents under the tree to open until Christmas morning anyway!

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

Dasher, Dancer, Comet, Blitzen, Rudolph… No I can’t remember them all without consulting google.

Which holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

Watching a Christmas movie on Christmas Eve with a nice big hot chocolate before bed!

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake! I can remember having a real tree once during childhood and my mam spent so much time vacuuming up the needles that I’ve never bothered with one. I’ve always liked the idea of going to pick a tree with the family, but that’s about it. We have had loads of fake trees since we got together 9 years ago, usually cheap and nasty ones from B&M, but a couple of years ago we bought a really nice one and I’m very happy with it.

What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?

I don’t really have one, just anything tasty. I guess I like Celebrations, which are holiday treats The Malteaser one mostly.

Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?

Without sounding selfish, probably receiving. Buying gifts makes me so anxious, particularly for people like my husband. Some years I’m driven to tears because I can’t make a decision on what to get and I just end up feeling really rubbish about it. Obviously the feeling of joy when someone likes what you’ve got them is great, but for me it’s over shadowed by the stress of it all.

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

I’ve received lots of lovely gifts it would be too difficult to choose one.

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

I’d LOVE to go to Disney during the festive period.

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

I’d say my wrapping skills are pretty pro!

Most memorable Christmas moment?

Neil’s first Christmas. At 11 months he wasn’t really old enough to know what Christmas was, but he was old enough to enjoy it.

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

I read it in the Asda magazine and I was raging.

What makes the holidays special for you?

Just spending time together as a family, I love that. Not having to go out, or worry about the outside world too much, enjoying each others company in front of the nice warm fire, Christmas music playing in the background. What’s not to love?

Now that I’m finished, I tag Lindsay from Newcastle Family Life, can’t wait to read her answers! Have a lovely Christmas everyone!

I know, why would you punish something like that in a family magazine man? Asda, forever the ruiners of Christmas.
