Who doesn’t love a box of chocolates at Christmas? It one of those classic gifts that works for almost anyone. Wether as a little token gift of thanks to a teacher or neighbour, or as an accompaniment to a larger present for a loved one, you generally can’t go wrong with chocolate.
I love chocolate all year round, but at Christmas time there is something so nice about receiving a proper box of Chocolates. So when I was contacted by Planete Chocolat in Brussels to see if I would like to try a box of their luxury Belgian chocolate, I definitely couldn’t say no.
Planete Chocolat are artisan chocolatiers found in the heart of Brussels, producing a range of quality Belgian chocolates and pralines. When you order chocolate from them, it is despatched directly from Belgium, so it really is the genuine article.
I received a box of chocolates from their Christmas range, which is beautifully packed in a special gold Christmas box featuring little gingerbread men and lots of festive decorations.
The box arrives in a brown velvet drawstring bag, with a golden envelope with a nice message in a little pouch at the front. As far as chocolate go, this really took my breath away. The packaging is gorgeous, and just oozes luxury. I know if I had received it as a gift it would have felt pretty special, and certainly not like a box of chocolates off the shelf in the supermarket. It feels like a lot of effort was put in to the packaging.
Of course, all of that effort would be for nothing, if the chocolate didn’t taste very nice. It’s what’s inside that counts, as they say.
And well in this instance, what’s inside is a continuation of the outside. Pure Luxury. The box contains a selection of delicious pralines, chocolates and caramels, in milk, white and dark chocolate. They really are a feast for the eyes and the mouth.
My husband and I huddled together around the little card inside, deciding which ones we wanted. I’m a big fan of praline so there was plenty for me to choose from, and there were a few coffee flavours inside too which made my husband happy. There are lots of different flavours to choose from, including honey, coconut, mint, orange, lemon and cinnamon.
I’m not usually a fan of dark chocolate, but on this occasion I liked everything I tried.
The only negative thing I could say about the box was of chocolates is that the little card that tells you what each chocolate is was a little hard to read. The pictures on it were small, so it was sometimes difficult to tell what was what. This wasn’t a big deal for us as I was happy enough just to bite in to my chocolate and get a surprise, but I just thought it was worth mentioning.
These special Christmas Chocolates would make a lovely Christmas present for a loved one. With the luxurious packaging and delicious selection of well made Belgian pralines, it really is an experience from the moment you open the package. Planete Chocolat also offer free 24 hour delivery which make these the perfect last minute gift.
