blog header

My new blog header & a big thanks!

I’m very excited tonight to be blogging from my brand new, freshly designed blog. After months of planning with my husband, I’ve finally got the blog header of my dreams, and I love it.

I’ve been blogging now for almost three years. During that time, my blog has seen it’s fare share of ‘designs’. I use that term lightly, as in the beginning there wasn’t much of a design. It started as at many other blogs do, just a coloured background and a plain text header. It did the job to begin with, but it wasn’t long before I was looking for something a bit prettier.

That mentality has continued over each redesign, it’s done the job for a while but I’ve always been wanting just a bit more. It was never quite perfect, not exactly what I was looking for. The funny thing is, I was never sure exactly what it as I was looking for, but just knew that each design wasn’t quite it.

Well now I can finally say it’s perfect. It’s perfect for me, and it’s perfect for my blog. I honestly couldn’t be happier. I sent my mam a message asking her what she thought of it and her reply was “Very You” and that’s just what I wanted.

I have to give thanks to my very talented husband, for taking the time to draw it all. He’s been very patient with me, bless him. After much humming and hawing from me, we finally decided on a list of things I wanted to include within my design. He then started to draw some of the elements, and we put together a header last weekend. It didn’t feel right though, despite his drawings being great. So after a bit of a rethink, he got to work on the new drawings, without even such as a moan about my indecisiveness. He’s a pain, is my husband.

I wanted my new header to represent us as a family, and I think he’s managed to really do that, with a little touch of Kawaii because it’s cute.

The family of cats is us, complete with facial hair and geeky specs. I didn’t want any people in the design, so I love the use of the cats as were are cray cray for cats. The camera is there because I’m always taking photos, and have really enjoyed developing my photography skills during my time as a blogger. The notepad and book represent my love for reading and writing. And the coffee? Well, I have two kids so coffee is needed (by the bucketload). The MacBook is there because I am always tippy tapping away on my MacBook keyboard, and I guess it symbolises our love of tech as a family too. Finally, the rainbow represents the new journey my daughter and I are taking by joining the rainbows. And rainbows are just kinda sweet, especially when they have little kawaii faces!

So yeah, I’m kinda in love with it. Big thanks to my husband again. Without sounding like a big sop, I really appreciate his support with my blog, and he’s done a bloody good job with this for me!

What do you think? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments below!
