Summer is officially here. The sun is shining and the heat is rising. For the first time this year I’ve been thinking about baring my pasty whites in a summer dress. I’ve got my pedicure done and I’m ready to get my toes out. And hey, what better way to celebrate this occasion than with a new pair of sandals?
Yes, I’m saying hello to my toes for the first time this season. When I say I’ve got a pedicure done, I really mean I’ve waddled around the house with those weird foam toe separators as I wait for my brightly coloured nail varnish to dry. But hey, that counts as a pedicure, doesn’t it?
I’m usually a converse kinda girl, but when the some comes out, so do my feet. I do love a good pair of sandals, and have a few pairs in my collection. I like to get a new pair each summer to celebrate the change of season, so I was happy when I was asked if I’d like to try something from the Jones Bookmaker Sandals collection.
Jones Bootmaker have been keeping the nations feet on trend for over 150 years, with stylish footwear for the whole family. They have a great selection, including Birkenstock and Strive Footwear, but I chose something from their own range. I’ve wanted some gladiator style sandals for a while, so the Kero Flat Sandals really jumped out to me.
They are available in two colours, black and brown. Of course I chose black, as I’m channelling my inner Wednesday Addams at the moment. And you really can’t go wrong with black shoes, can you?
The sandals feature a criss cross lace design, with a buckle to the back for easy fitting. When they arrived, I couldn’t wait to try them. I decided to wear them to work for the day to test how comfortable they were.
The shoes are a good fit, which I was pleased about. Usually I find it a bit tricky to find a good pair of sandals which fit comfortably. Often I find my feet poking forward to much, because there is just not enough support, but I had no issues with these.
The first day I wore them I did find them to hurt a little bit. A joining in the leather over my smallest toe was a bit rough, and rubbed against my skin all day. I ended up having to wear a plaster to stop it from rubbing. In hindsight, wearing them for the first time for an eight hour shift on my feet probably wasn’t the best of ideas. Thankfully, after wearing them a couple of times the leather has softened and now they are pretty comfortable. I can walk around them all day.
I really love the style of the sandals. They look great with a dress, and I love them with my skinny jeans. They are stylish and comfortable, just remember to break them in a bit first! They’re on sale at the moment too, along with lots of other sandals in the Jones Bootmaker range, so it’s work checking the website if you’re wanting to treat your feet this summer!
Disclosure – I received a pair of shoes free of charge from the Jones Bootmaker website in return for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.
