I was tagged in The Mummy Tag by the lovely Beth from Twinderelmo and thought I would give it a go! The mummy tag is a series of questions all about being a mummy, which I thought might be fun.
Are you a stay-at-home or a working Mum?
I work part time, and obviously do some blogging and writing part time too.
Would you have it any other way?
At the moment, no. It works for us. Because I’m only part time and do the rest of my work at home I still have plenty of time with the kids.
Do you co-sleep?
When I was pregnant I was adamant that I wouldn’t co-sleep, but like all other things I was adamant about that changed! Honestly, when I was pregnant I thought I had everything sussed! Yeah, we did co-sleep with both of them from a young age. I think after nights full of screaming you just give in for a good sleep. The kids have their own rooms now but probably end up in our bed at least once a week. Sometimes I enjoy the cuddles though, to be honest!
Muslin cloths! These things are a godsend, perfect for slinging over your shoulder while burning a baby to protect your clothes from sick, and doubles up as a bib if you needed it! Great for so many other things, I bought loads of them when Caitlin was a baby!
How many kids do you plan on having?
I have always said we’d have three, and my original plan was to try for my third as Caitlin started school. That hasn’t happened, and I can’t see us trying for another anytime soon. I’m happy with the way our family is at the moment, so we might just leave it at two, but I’m only 28 so who knows what we may decide in a few years.
Date Night – How often?
What is this date night which you speak of? Seriously though, I think we’ve had one ‘date night’ since having kids. We went to see an Elvis tribute for our anniversary a few years ago. Neil wouldn’t settle for a babysitter, so going out child free is never going to happen. We do enjoy a movie with junk food once a week though, if that counts.
What’s your child’s favourite TV show?
Both of the kids enjoy SpongeBob, Caitlin likes My Little Pony and Pokemon and Neil doesn’t really watch much TV. He prefers watching people playing Minecraft on youtube.
What’s one thing you bought for your newborn and never used?
Honestly, I can’t remember. It’s been 6 years man…
Child’s favourite food?
I think everyone loves pizza more than anything.
How many cars does your family have?
We don’t have any, which is a big pain in the arse. Living in a small village, the fun places are only accessible by car. I really need to learn to drive but it’s just another thing to add to the list of ‘things we need to save for’ and so it will be a while before it happens.
Weight Gain – Before, During and After Pregnancy?
I didn’t gain any weight during my first pregnancy. I was so sick, I was just skin and bone. In fact, once Neil was born I was below my weight I had been before I’d gotten pregnant. Since then I’ve gained 2.5 stone though.
What’s your dream family holiday?
Florida. I’d love to go to all of the theme parks, particularly Disney. I’m terrified of flying though, so it will probably never happen.
What’s your dream holiday without the kids?
I’d love to visit India, or Las Vegas.
How has life changed since having kids?
Well, I used to be a party animal, and now I’m a bit boring! Haha no but really, I have toned myself down a lot since having children. I’m not quite so reckless, now. I’ve turned in to a bit of a worrier in fact! I do feel more confident now though, like I feel like being a mum was my calling in life, and before this I was just floating about.
Finish the sentence – It makes my heart melt when…
…my children given me cuddles at bed time and say “night night, mummy”. Or when they give me little handmade gifts and pictures.
Where do I shop for my kids?
Tesco, H&M, and Ebay. I love buying bundles on Ebay, you can get some proper bargains.
What’s your favourite makeup and skincare?
Whatever is cheap. I used to worship Mac, but I just couldn’t justify spending that kind of money on makeup these days. I get whatever is on offer in super drug usually.
Huggies or Pampers?
Neither, we used to use ASDA Little Angels nappies. They were much cheaper and were just as good.
Have you always wanted kids?
Not really. I was adamant up until I was around 19 that I was never having kids. I obviously changed my mind though!
Best thing about being a Mum?
Everything. There are so many great things it’s hard to know where to start. I love watching them grow from tiny babies in to proper little people, knowing that I’m helping to shape who they become. Tucking them in at night and seeing the love in their eyes. Knowing that to those two little people, I am their world. It’s all so lovely.
