The UEFA EURO 2016™ football tournament is taking place this summer in France. From June 10th through to July 10th, 24 countries from across Europe will compete against each other to be crowned champions. This year, three of the four home nations will be taking part in the tournament; England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. This is the first time in history that this has happened, as Wales and Northern Ireland have never previously qualified for the UEFA European Championships. That makes this years tournament pretty special for football fans across the UK.
To celebrate this special event, official sponsors of the tournament McDonald’s have launched the search for UEFA EURO 2016™ player escorts, and they are on the look out for one special Northern Ireland super fan.
This summer, McDonald’s will be sending nine lucky children and their guardians along to the sporting event of the year. The children will have the honour of walking on to the pitch with their national heroes at one of the highly anticipated games of the tournament. One child from Northern Ireland will be selected to escort the national team at the Northern Ireland vs Germany game on the 21st of June in Paris. As well as becoming a player escort, the prize also includes travel to paris, 2 nights accommodation and meals for both the child and a guardian while you are there.
So, does your child live and breath football? Are they the most passionate Northern Ireland fan in the whole country? Do they dream of walking on to the pitch alongside their heroes Steven Davis, Kyle Lafferty and the other boys in green? McDonald’s are asking parents across Northern Ireland to capture their child’s love of football and upload it here to be in with a chance. The photo could be of your child celebrating a goal at one of the Northern Ireland qualifiers, scoring their own goal at a local tournament, having a kick about in the front garden, or even just dressed up in their favourite football kit. Anything that captures their true passion for the game.
For Northern Ireland fans, this is quite a special prize. 2016 is the first year that the team has made it to the European Championships, and the atmosphere surrounding the tournament here is electric. Things are only set to heat up at the tournament grows closer and the excitement builds. Thousands of loyal Northern Irish football fans will be making the trip to France to support their country, and your child could be right at the centre of that.
Having the chance to walk out on to the pitch, hand in hand with your hero, to the sound of a roaring crowd, what an experience that will be. It’s something that will stay with them forever, a special memory that they can tell their grandchildren about in many years time. As a parent, imagine how proud you will feel to see your son or daughter standing on that pitch alongside national footballing legends. To be a part of all of this for the first time in Northern Ireland’s history, well that’s even more exiting.
To enter this fantastic competition, you must be over 18 and a resident in the UK, and your child must be aged between 6 and 10 years old on the 10th June 2016. You enter to win, and find full details of the prize and the terms and conditions here: http://www.mcdonalds.co.uk/ukhome/Sport/Football/LetsPlay/EURO-2016.html
