On Saturday my little blog turned one year old. My blog shares it’s birthday with my wee man. Saturday was all about Neil, so my one year blogiversary passed without much of a thought.
Now that Neil’s birthday celebrations are over for another year, I thought I would take some time to reflect on the last year.
As I opened my laptop and started typing this post on the night of my sons birthday last year, I really had no idea of the journey I was about to begin. I just wrote because I felt like writing, I had no expectations. I wasn’t sure if anyone would read, and to be honest I didn’t really care. I didn’t know I was entering in to a vast, and rapidly growing community of parenting bloggers… In that moment I was simply doing something for myself and enjoying it.
In the weeks that followed my eyes were opened to all sorts of things, blogging networks, linkies, chart results… I soon realised that there was more to blogging than just writing a post. It wasn’t long before I was totally hooked, my husband would probably say a little too in to it, I started to spend my every spare second doing something bloggy. I suddenly felt a part of this lovely community and I loved getting involved, joining in with linkies, chatting on Twitter, finding new blogs, the lot!
A year on, I’m still loving it. It might sound a bit cheesy but blogging has changed me a little bit, and totally for the better. In this last year I’ve gained not one, but two hobbies. One obviously being blogging, the other being photography. Before my blog, I spent most of my spare time doing very little, but now I’m actively seeking out new experiences, doing more with the kids and having more fun as a family, and it’s absolutely fantastic.
Who knows what experiences and opportunities lie ahead as I enter my second year of blogging, but I’m ready to get stuck in and see where life takes me…
So happy one year blogiversary to me, and here’s to many more!
